Assange arrested in London on Swedish warrant

London (CNN) -- WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange was arrested Tuesday in London on a Swedish warrant, London's Metropolitan Police said.

Assange was arrested at a London police station at 9:30 a.m. (4:30 a.m. ET) and will appear at the City of Westminster Magistrate's Court later in the day, police said.

Swedish authorities had issued the warrant for Assange so they can talk to him about sex-crime allegations unrelated to WikiLeaks' recent disclosure of secret U.S. documents.

Assange's British lawyer, Mark Stephens, said his client would fight extradition to Sweden, according to Britain's Press Association.

Assange, a 39-year-old Australian, has said he has long feared retribution for his website's disclosures and has called the rape allegations against him a smear campaign.

Sweden first issued the arrest warrant for Assange in November, saying he is suspected of one count of rape, two counts of sexual molestation and one count of unlawful coercion -- or illegal use of force -- allegedly committed in August.

Watch as idiot conservatives break their wine and celebrate over this. Ugh.

Release the key...DO IT!

Every time I see someone praise the Young Justice TV series (in-name-only, as far as I'm concerned), I can only sit back and sigh at a wasted opportunity.

something of a rant under the cut )
dreamreaver: (even smugleaf is unimpressed)
How amusing, apparently saying anything negative about TV Tropes (this time, complaining about the new layout in the forum) results in a permanent ban - it's now redirecting me to Google! Never mind the fact that I was genuinely concerned about the damn place and did not engage in vandalism!

Stay classy, Fast Eddie, you frail-nerved pussy.

dreamreaver: (how utterly unsurprising)
Oh do shut up you pussy Northerners, out here we have to deal with upwards of 30C every fucking summer (and late spring, if the weather decides it hates everyone that year - like now)

See, I don't live near the coast...
dreamreaver: (hrmm...)
I've been listening to a bunch of orchestral music lately, let's leave it at that. Also, I'm quite interested in Ancient Rome. Yeah, so they spoke Latin, but Italian is its closest relative. And Latin sounds kinda rough with the "us" and "k" sounds everywhere.

They say Italian is the most melodious language in the world...but most of the Italian I hear at home would be my dad cursing at inopportune moments *snicker* Too bad he says it too swiftly for me to catch the actual words =*

He's forgotten quite a bit of the language (living in Sydney for over 50 years does that)...still, he would make a good practicing partner if I decided to learn it again.

It was compulsory during my year 7 (that would be equivalent to early middle school for you Americans), but I didn't try to keep up with it afterward because I wasn't much interested in the language then.

That said, I wouldn't actually want to live in the country, if mostly because it's Catholicland, and I am very much a liberal atheist - it'd stick out like a sore thumb if I spoke up.

Science, English, Ancient History. Three.

All oral examinations. As in, I have to stand in front of people and speak. For three minutes. I. Hate. Public. Speaking. It feels hideously uncomfortable for someone like me, and that I have to do it for school makes it all the more worse.

None of them are due for several weeks, but damn it, IT'S SPEECHES.

Oh, I should really stop procrastinating...

Yeah. Sorry 'bout that.

Also, I apparently turned 18 today, therefore those "age-inappropriate" messages can go choke on their fumes!

In other news,
the Australian government is still full of raving lunatics.

ps here's the specs )

We're havin' a fun time trolling 4chan's /n/ board with images and greentext of this guy (and it all started on a second post derailment on /vp/):

I will never doubt the fun of an all-nighter again.

(wait does he even have a trollface image? There has to be one somewhere.)

dreamreaver: (revolted)
...and I still have to go to a very important meeting tomorrow. Blarg.

Cold, flu, call it what you will, it always attacks around this time (late winter/early spring), but it seems to be worse than usual this year. I don't know why.
dreamreaver: (hrmm...)
tl;dr some guy on 2ch has Pokémon Black and posts info and a video; everyone freaks out.

/vp/ especially is running very high on emotion, and very pissed off that the ROM hasn't leaked yet.

(knowing my hideous luck, it'll leak when I go to bed or go to school tomorrow morning)

Looks like the Anglophone fandom just shot themselves in the foot, now the Japanese are refusing to leak the ROM because a bunch of assholes kept trolling the livestreams. GREAT JOB /vp/!!

>mfw Serebii is vindicated of everything ever

I don't think the fandom has been this worked up since late 2006 )

dreamreaver: (subspace tear)
tl;dr guy on 2ch posts apparent evos, Serebii says they might be real due to certain factors, OP says they're fake, everyone breathes sighs of relief, one of Serebii's contacts says "no, they actually are real", everyone floods the board with complaints, Pokébeach and some Spanish site decide to get in on the fun (and oh God that is so very wrong)

I'll say this: if these do turn out to be real, there are going to be so many people eating their words come the 18th...

dreamreaver: (screwball)

Hung parliament, Family First booted out of the senate, Greens are holding the balance of power (sayonara, filter!), and they just gained a seat in the House of Representatives!

...well, apart from the fact that Conboy Conroy somehow managed to keep his senate seat, blarg.

On second thought, both parties are the same thing anyway, just under different names...

dreamreaver: (sugar rush)
Meanwhile, Wendy Francis has completely lost her marbles upon realizing that no-one with half a working brain would ever vote for her.

Now the people just need to somehow get Greens into the prime position.
